What Makes a Wonderful Animal Picture

A good animal photo captures the animal as they simply are. You want a bit of the animal’s personality to come through. If they are a bouncy, fiery dog, that’s what you want to see in the photos. If they’re a apathetic, majestic feline who rules the living room like their own exclusive territory, then that’s what you need to photograph.

Good animal photos benefit from being real. Fake, pro photoshoot can work, but I think they usually end up looking pretty odd. What dog wanders around in a perfect white place? My two would be more likely to have tracked dirty foot traces all over every surface. If you’ve got a dog or a dog or alternative outdoor animal, photograph it outdoors. If you have an indoor kitten, mouse, dove or something else, photograph it in its main relaxing area.
